Pamela Wall, Ph.D., PMHNP, FAANP is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Master of Science in Nursing, Rush University with a Post Master’s Certificate as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and earned her Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Wall is a 20-year veteran of the United States Navy Nurse corps where she served in multiple different nursing roles to include inpatient and outpatient units, various deployments which included humanitarian missions. She was the first nurse to be appointed as the Division Psychiatrist at 2nd Marine Division and worked as an advisor for mental health to the Commanding General of 2nd Marine Division, the Chief Nursing Officer, and Surgeon General of the Navy.
Dr. Wall has experience in academia as the progenitor and director of two psychiatric nursing programs at Duke School of Nursing and Uniformed Services University. She was also the academic director and partner for the Psychiatric Nurse Residency program at the Durham VA Medical Center.
More recently, she was the Chief of In Service and an International Health Coordinator at the United States Peace Corps. There she served as the only psychiatric provider in the Peace Corps and developed expertise in the mental health care management of Peace corps Volunteers worldwide. Most recently, the team of nurse practitioners under her leadership, were instrumental in the recent evacuation of over 7000 volunteers during the COVID crisis, ensuring seamless transitions of their medical care after service. Answering the call of the overwhelming need for mental health services, Dr. Wall has gone back to her roots and is working in a private neuropsychiatric practice in Virginia.
She is a fellow in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Her research and publications are focused on PTSD, TBI, sleep, simulation, and implicit bias in academic settings. Her clinical expertise is in treating adults with anxiety, PTSD, sexual assault, and depression. Dr. Wall is Jonas Scholar, a recent Alumni Council Member, and the Alumni representative to the Jonas Nursing and Veterans Health Care Board. She also serves as a board member to the Your Next Stage organization, whose mission is to support women transitioning from service.
