Art and graphics can be powerful tools. Over the years I’ve used it for communicating a message, intent, feelings, understanding, or simply as a way of self therapy or distraction from the everyday stressors of life. Art has always been a passion of mine. Although, I’m a self taught artist, I have managed to integrate my art into my professional life. I use my own drawings in presentations, I use it to convey a message, and I use it to stay engaged in conferences or meetings by creating doodles. A couple of years ago I found out what I was actually doing had a name, SKETCHNOTING. You see, my “doodles” were purposeful with words and drawings that were related to what I was seeing, hearing, and understanding. This form of art is called sketchnotes, also known as graphic notes, or graphic recording. Over the past few years I’ve been fortunate enough to also share some of my artwork and doodles at conferences, seminars, and course I’ve taken.
